Iomega externals are now old enough that many fail during their first big copy in years. Copy the most important files first, and stop if the drive clicks or slows to a crawl.

Network drives with a single disk

Home Media and similar network drives store data on an internal drive with a Linux file system Windows and macOS can’t read natively. If the enclosure dies, the drive itself may be fine — don’t initialize it in Windows.
