Controller or firmware failure

A Rocket drive that suddenly disappears from BIOS, or shows a wrong name and tiny capacity, usually has a controller or firmware fault. The NAND typically still holds the data.

It might be the dock

A drive that seems dead in a USB enclosure or dock may be fine — the enclosure’s bridge board fails more often than you’d think. Try another enclosure or a direct connection before assuming the worst.

Heat under sustained load

Fast NVMe drives without a heatsink can throttle heavily during long transfers. Throttling isn’t failure, but drives that drop out repeatedly under load should be backed up.

Can you recover an encrypted or password-protected Sabrent drive?+
Often yes, but you'll need the password or encryption key. Many Sabrent drives use hardware encryption, so a physical recovery only yields readable data when the correct credentials are supplied — have them ready.
My Sabrent drive isn't recognized — is the data still there?+
