iPhone & Android Boot Loop Data Recovery

A phone stuck on the Apple or manufacturer logo, or restarting over and over, can have a software problem or a hardware fault. Whatever you try, never choose Restore or factory reset if you need the data, because erasing an encrypted phone removes the data for good. When the cause is hardware, we repair the phone's original board enough to boot and recover your data for one flat $1,200, and you pay nothing if we can't recover it.

Signs of phone boot loop

  • •Stuck on the Apple logo or the manufacturer logo
  • •Restarts every few minutes, or cycles between the logo and a black screen
  • •Got stuck during or right after a software update
  • •Storage was nearly full before the problem started
  • •Began after a drop, liquid exposure, or a screen or battery repair
  • •Computer shows the phone in recovery mode, or updates fail with an error

What’s actually happening

A boot loop means the phone starts, hits a problem before it finishes loading, and shuts down or restarts. Software causes include an interrupted or failed update, corrupted system files, and storage so full the system can't complete startup. These can sometimes be fixed by reinstalling the operating system without erasing your data.

Hardware can cause the same symptoms. A worn battery that can't deliver enough power at startup, a damaged flex cable or sensor the system expects to find, liquid corrosion, or a fault on the logic board or its storage chip can all keep a phone restarting. An iPhone that restarts on a steady cycle every few minutes is often pointing to a faulty component rather than software.

What matters most is which options keep data and which erase it. On an iPhone connected to a computer in recovery mode, Update tries to reinstall iOS while keeping your data, while Restore erases the phone. On Android, the recovery menu's Wipe data/factory reset option erases everything. Because modern phones are encrypted, an erased phone can't be recovered by anyone.

What not to do

  • ✕Don't choose Restore or factory reset — both erase the phone and its encryption keys, and the data can't be recovered afterward.
  • ✕Don't keep repeating Update attempts — one or two tries is reasonable, but if it keeps failing with errors, the cause may be hardware, and every extra attempt is another chance to click the wrong option.
  • ✕Don't let a store fix it by resetting the phone or replacing the board — either way you get a working phone with none of your data.
  • ✕Don't leave it looping on a charger for days — a phone with a hardware fault can run hot while it cycles, adding stress to a failing board.
  • ✕Don't use unofficial flashing or repair tools — some reinstall software in ways that wipe user data or leave the phone harder to recover.

How we recover it

1

Find the cause

Engineers work out whether the loop comes from the battery, a damaged cable or sensor, liquid damage, or the logic board itself, using the phone's behavior and board-level measurements.

2

Repair without erasing

Suspect parts are tested against known-good ones, and board-level faults are repaired so the original board can finish starting up. Nothing that would erase the phone is used.

3

Boot and unlock

Once the phone starts reliably, it's unlocked with the passcode you provide. We can't bypass lock screens or encryption.

4

Extract and verify

Your data is copied off the running phone, checked to confirm photos and files open, and returned to you on a secure return drive.

Can the data be recovered?

Boot loops can often be recovered when the phone hasn't been restored or reset and the cause is a repairable part or board fault. The outlook gets worse when liquid corrosion or a failing storage chip is involved, or when earlier repair attempts damaged the board. A phone that has been restored or factory reset can't be recovered, because erasing it removes the encryption keys. Recovery also requires your passcode. We'll know more after diagnosis, and if we can't recover your data, you pay nothing.

Phone Boot Loop — common questions

Will choosing Update erase my iPhone?+
Update is designed to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Restore is the option that erases it. If Update fails, close the window and stop rather than choosing Restore.
Can full storage cause a boot loop?+
It can. When storage is completely full, the phone may not have room to finish starting up or complete an update. An Update from a computer sometimes resolves it, and as long as the phone isn't erased, the data is still on it.
My iPhone restarts every few minutes. What does that mean?+
A regular restart cycle often points to hardware, such as a damaged charging port or sensor cable, a battery problem, or a board fault. Reinstalling iOS won't fix a hardware fault, so this is a case where lab diagnosis makes sense.
What about Android boot loops?+
Many Android phones can start into a recovery menu, but the main repair option there, Wipe data/factory reset, erases the phone. Some manufacturers offer tools that reinstall software while keeping data, but options vary by model and some erase by default. If you're not sure an option keeps your data, don't use it.
How much does phone boot loop recovery cost?+
One flat $1,200 for a single device, quoted before you ship — no diagnostic fee, and $0 if we can't recover your data.
