Document & Office File Recovery for one clear price
The document you can't lose is usually the one with no backup. We recover and repair Office files and PDFs — deleted, corrupted, or trapped on a failed drive — for one flat price.
Modern Office files, DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX, are ZIP containers holding XML files for the text, formatting, and embedded images. If part of the container is damaged, Word or Excel may refuse to open the whole file, even though most of the content is intact. Repair often means rebuilding the ZIP structure and salvaging the parts that survive. Older DOC and XLS files use a different binary format, and PDFs have their own internal object structure, each with its own repair approach.
Lost work after a crash or bad save can sometimes be found elsewhere. Office creates temporary files and AutoRecover or autosave copies while you work, and those may hold a more recent version than the saved file. Business files such as QuickBooks company files and Access databases are larger and more fragile, and damage often comes from interrupted writes over a network or a failing drive. They usually need structure-level repair rather than a simple file copy.
Overwritten documents are the hard case. If a file was saved over with a blank or wrong version, the old content is generally gone from that file, although temporary files, previous versions, or older copies elsewhere on the drive may still hold some or all of it. The less the drive has been used since, the better the chances of finding them.

Common failures we handle
•A file that won’t open or is corrupted
•Accidentally deleted or overwritten document
•Lost work after a crash or bad save
•The drive holding the files failed
Before you send it in: what not to do
✕Don't keep re-saving a corrupted file under the same name — each save can overwrite what remains of the good data.
✕Don't close the Document Recovery pane without saving the versions it offers — Office may remove those recovery files once you exit normally.
✕Don't run repair tools on your only copy — work on a duplicate so a failed repair can't make things worse.
✕Don't install recovery software onto the drive that held a deleted file — the installation can overwrite the very file you want back.
✕Don't keep entering transactions into a QuickBooks or Access file that reports errors — further use can spread damage through the file.
How we recover it
1
Secure the source
We image the drive or media holding your documents, repairing it first if it has physically failed, so nothing is written to the original.
2
Search for every version
We look for the original files, deleted copies, and temporary, autosave, and backup files that may hold a newer or less damaged version.
3
Repair file structures
Damaged ZIP containers, older binary Office files, PDFs, and QuickBooks or Access files are rebuilt at the structure level to recover as much content as possible.
4
Verify and return
We open each recovered document to confirm it is usable, and return the best available versions on a secure return drive.
Document & Office File Recovery — common questions
How much does document & office file recovery cost?+
One flat $1,200, quoted before you ship — no per-gigabyte fees and no diagnostic charge. You pay $0 if we can't recover your data.
Word or Excel says my file is corrupt. Is the content gone?+
Usually not entirely. A single damaged part of a DOCX or XLSX container can stop the file from opening even when most of the text, data, and images are intact. Rebuilding the container often recovers most of the content, though formatting, formulas, or embedded objects in the damaged areas may be lost.
Can you recover a document I accidentally saved over?+
Sometimes. The saved-over file itself usually can't be restored, but temporary files, autosave copies, previous versions, or deleted older copies on the drive may still hold earlier content. Results depend on how much the drive has been used since.
Do you repair QuickBooks and Access files?+
Yes. QuickBooks company files and Access databases can often be repaired at the structure level, recovering tables, records, and transactions from damaged files. Severely damaged files may come back with some records missing.
Is my data still recoverable?+
In most cases, yes. A device that won't boot or mount usually has a hardware fault while the data itself is intact. The key is to stop using it — don't reformat, rebuild, or keep powering it on — and let our cleanroom handle it.
Do I have to visit a location?+
No. We're mail-in: confirm online, we email a free prepaid label, you ship the device, and we return it with your recovered data. You only pay on success.
How long does it take?+
Most single-device cases finish in about 15–20 business days from arrival, with shipping adding only a day or two on each end.
