Known Lenovo failure patterns
Widely reported, publicly documented issues we see in Lenovo recoveries. Most units never have these problems — but if yours does, here’s what it means for your data.
"Error 2100: Detection error on HDD0"
A Lenovo startup error meaning the main drive isn’t responding. Reseating the drive sometimes helps; if the error persists, the drive has likely failed.
"Error 1962: No operating system found"
Can be a boot-order problem — or a drive that can’t be read. Check whether the drive appears in BIOS before attempting repairs.
BitLocker on ThinkPads
Many ThinkPads are encrypted by default or by IT policy. Have your recovery key ready.
We email a prepaid label — inbound shipping on us.

Lenovo recovery — common questions
How much does Lenovo data recovery cost?+
One flat $1,200 for the Lenovo devices we handle — quoted before you ship, with no per-gigabyte fees and no diagnostic charge. You pay $0 if we can't recover your data.
Can you recover an encrypted or password-protected Lenovo drive?+
Often yes, but you'll need the password or encryption key. Many Lenovo drives use hardware encryption, so a physical recovery only yields readable data when the correct credentials are supplied — have them ready.
My Lenovo drive isn't recognized — is the data still there?+
Usually. A drive that isn't detected most often has a controller, firmware, or mechanical fault while the data itself sits intact. Stop using it, don't reformat, and let our cleanroom recover it.
Do I have to visit a location?+
No. We're a mail-in service: confirm online, we email a free prepaid label, you ship your Lenovo device, and we return it with your recovered data. You only pay on success.
