Mac Data Recovery for one clear price

A Mac that shows a flashing folder, stalls at the Apple logo, or won't power on usually still holds your files — they're trapped, not gone. Our Mac data recovery service covers iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and MacBook models, including Fusion Drives, Time Machine backups, and encrypted Apple silicon storage, for one flat price.

About mac data recovery

How a Mac stores data depends heavily on its age. Older iMacs, Mac minis, and Mac Pros use removable hard drives or SSDs, which can be recovered much like any other drive. Fusion Drive Macs combine a small SSD and a larger hard drive into one logical volume, so a failure on either device can leave the whole volume unreadable — both halves have to be recovered and joined back together in the right order.

Macs with the Apple T2 security chip and all Apple silicon Macs work differently. Their storage is either soldered to the logic board or paired to it, and everything written to it is encrypted by keys held in the Mac's own security hardware. Removing the storage chips and reading them elsewhere doesn't produce usable data. Recovery means getting the original logic board working well enough to unlock the storage, which often calls for board-level repair, and you'll need to provide your Mac login password — with FileVault enabled, it's what unlocks the volume.

Time Machine drives are a separate case. They're usually ordinary external drives formatted as HFS+ or, on newer versions of macOS, APFS, and they fail the same way any external drive does. Because a Time Machine disk holds many dated versions of your files, recovering it can bring back not just your latest data but earlier copies too.

What we recover

  • ✓Documents, Photos libraries, and project files
  • ✓Time Machine backup drives and their snapshots
  • ✓Fusion Drive volumes split across SSD and hard drive
  • ✓FileVault-encrypted volumes (with your password)

Common failures we handle

  • •Flashing folder with a question mark at startup
  • •Stuck on the Apple logo or a looping progress bar
  • •Mac won't power on after a spill, drop, or power surge
  • •Fusion Drive or internal drive not showing in Disk Utility

Before you send it in: what not to do

  • ✕Don't reinstall macOS or erase the disk from Recovery — it overwrites the file system you need back.
  • ✕Don't run First Aid over and over on a failing drive — each pass adds wear and can make metadata damage worse.
  • ✕Don't keep powering on a Mac that's had liquid inside — current through a wet board spreads corrosion and short circuits.
  • ✕Don't split a Fusion Drive or separate its SSD and hard drive — both halves are needed to rebuild the volume.
  • ✕Don't let a repair shop replace the logic board before your data is recovered — on T2 and Apple silicon Macs, a new board can't unlock the old storage.

How we recover it

1

Identify the model and storage design

We confirm whether your Mac uses a removable drive, a Fusion Drive pair, or encrypted storage tied to the logic board, since each needs a different approach.

2

Image removable drives in the cleanroom

Hard drives and removable SSDs are diagnosed and, where needed, repaired in a cleanroom, then copied sector by sector so all further work happens on the copy, not your original.

3

Board-level repair for soldered storage

On T2 and Apple silicon Macs, engineers diagnose and repair the logic board — power circuitry, damaged components, liquid corrosion — until the board can boot far enough to unlock the encrypted storage with your password.

4

Rebuild the volume and extract files

We reassemble Fusion Drive members, repair damaged APFS or HFS+ structures, and pull your files out of the volume or Time Machine snapshots.

5

Verify and return

Recovered files are checked to confirm they open, then loaded onto a secure return drive and shipped back to you.

Mac Data Recovery — common questions

How much does mac data recovery cost?+
One flat $1,200, quoted before you ship — no per-gigabyte fees and no diagnostic charge. You pay $0 if we can't recover your data.
Can you recover data from an Apple silicon or T2 Mac?+
Sometimes, but only through the original logic board. The storage is encrypted with keys held in that Mac's security hardware, so we repair the board until it can unlock the storage. If the board, the security chip, or the storage itself is damaged beyond repair, the data can't be decrypted by anyone.
Do you need my Mac password?+
Yes. On encrypted Macs, and on any Mac with FileVault turned on, your login password is what unlocks the volume. Without it, the encrypted data can't be read. We use it only to access your data for recovery.
What if my Time Machine drive failed too?+
Send both. A Time Machine drive is usually a standard external drive, and recovering it can restore earlier versions of files as well as the most recent backup. It can also cover gaps if the Mac's own storage can't be recovered.
My Mac has a Fusion Drive. Is that harder to recover?+
It adds a step. A Fusion Drive spreads one volume across an SSD and a hard drive, so we recover each device separately and then rejoin them. Both pieces matter, which is why it helps not to reformat or separate them.
Is my data still recoverable?+
In most cases, yes. A device that won't boot or mount usually has a hardware fault while the data itself is intact. The key is to stop using it — don't reformat, rebuild, or keep powering it on — and let our cleanroom handle it.
Do I have to visit a location?+
No. We're mail-in: confirm online, we email a free prepaid label, you ship the device, and we return it with your recovered data. You only pay on success.
How long does it take?+
Most single-device cases finish in about 15–20 business days from arrival, with shipping adding only a day or two on each end.
